The Seiko Presage Classic Series SPB469J1 is a sophisticated mechanical watch that combines seamlessly Japanese aesthetic traditions with open-hearted mechanical artistry. As with the time and date variants, this Semi-Skeleton is a “Semi” of the same design family, offering dynamic movement on the dial side that is just as intriguing to the watch afficianado as the other variants.

The “Shiro-Iro” Open Heart Dial

It has a curved, domed dial with an extremely textured surface that imitates Shiro-Iro, the soft cream-white color that unbleached raw silk has.

What is unique about this reference is that the dial face is deliberately asymmetric:

• The Cutout (9 o’clock): This is a window with an open heart that reveals the heart beat mechanism, which shows the quick, complex movement of the ticking within the heart.
• The Sub-dial (6 o’clock): A recessed 24 hour indicator is also included to add tracking utility and to balance out the weight of the semi-skeleton cutout.

Ergonomics & Retro Styling

The watch features a slightly modified 40.2mm stainless steel case which is coated with the protective Super Hard Coating. Although the case is made more interesting with the sub-dial and cutout layers, it still seats in the perfect profile at 13.0mm thick.

It’s attached to the iconic multi-row, 7-link stainless steel bracelet of the classic series. The links are deliberately brief with a rounded end design which enables the bracelet to fall around the curves of the wrist without straining the hair or appearing stiff.
