The beautifully scaled down, vintage-inspired Seiko Presage Classic Series SPB524J1 is a timepiece that tips into mid-century dress watch proportions. This version, known as the “Edo Silk” edition, boasts a sleek 36mm footprint, is unisex, and overall prioritizes clean and uninterrupted symmetry and rich cultural storytelling.
The “Shiro-Iro” Dial is clean and symmetrical
The SPB524J1 is a no-date watch, which is a great asset for purists and the bigger variants in the Classic Series do not offer that. The dial features a domed shape and a deeply embossed texture that resembles traditional Japanese raw silk fabric, which is finished in the natural warm cream-white color of un-bleached silk, Shiro-Iro. The applied baton markers are multi-faceted and the hands are smooth, with soft curves at the tips to conform to the curve of the dial to reflect ambient light across the fabric-like pattern.
