The Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Series SPB495J1 is a high art mechanical watch which is a direct tribute to the heritage of Seiko’s timekeeping. The design of the SPB495J1 is a special historical homage, and a meticulous recreation of the dial of the first pocket watch ever made by the company – the “Timekeeper” – in 1895.
Handcrafted Mitsuru Yokosawa Enamel Dial
This watch has the best feature of a glittery and transparent white enamel face. Made by hand and fired to the highest temperatures in Japan, individual pieces with great care overseen by master artisan Mitsuru Yokosawa and his staff. Having worked for decades, Yokosawa is able to apply an impossibly perfect, true and living enamel layer of only 0.1mm. The outcome is a smooth and very rich surface which will not fade with time. The organic process leaves behind minute imperfections on the surface, each one unique to each watch, in true “fired enamel.
